from a newborn photographer’s perspective

FREQUENT
QUESTIONS

hey mama!

You’re in the right place! I am so excited to share this guide with you during your pregnancy and journey into motherhood! I know having a baby can be overwhelming- but I’m hoping these awesome accounts can be as resourceful and helpful for you as they have been for me!

CHECK THEM OUT

NUMBER ONE

mommy labor nurse

HAVE AN INFORMED BIRTH

@MOMMY.LABORNURSE

This account is the best for all things labor & delivery. It’s evidence based and full of easy-to-digest, bite-sized pieces of information that make learning about birth enjoyable and less overwhelming. I found this account sooo helpful when I was pregnant, and I still often send various posts to expecting mamas! Being informed about the process of birth made me feel less intimidated and more prepared- that’s totally my Type A personality though! Haha!

NUMBER TWO

karrie locher

postpartum & infant care

@karrie_locher

Karrie covers basically everything, but she’s the queen when it comes to postpartum care and the early weeks of life with a newborn… from recovery tips to diaper changes and pumping, she’s your girl.

NUMBER THREE

hey sleepy baby

NORMALIZING BABY SLEEP

@HEYSLEEPYBABY

This has been my absolute favorite account as a new mom. I know baby sleep can be controversial and overwhelming for many, but Hey Sleepy Baby is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to normal, biological infant sleep and what to expect. She has a different & refreshing approach than many baby sleep experts I’ve come across on social media. This is the account for tons of helpful resources and gentle sleep tips!

NUMBER FOUR

az breastfed babies

breastfeeding support

@az.breastfedbabies

Amey at AZ Breastfed Babies was absolutely amazing with helping Emerson and I during our breastfeeding journey. Emerson had a tongue tie, which meant breastfeeding had a rocky start for us. With Amey’s help, we had an amazing team and tons of support and have been able to meet our breastfeeding goals. Amey is all about the importance of moms having SUPPORT, whether they choose to breastfeed, combo feed, or formula feed!

NUMBER FIVE

psyched mommy

rediscover you after baby

@psychedmommy

With so much emphasis on physical recovery after birth, I had to include Psyched Mommy for an excellent resource on the mental and emotional aspects of postpartum life. Adjusting to a new baby, redetermining your identity, working on relationship changes as mom and dad… all of this and MORE is covered on this account in an honest, nonjudgmental way.

NUMBER SIX

safe in the seat

CAR SEAT SAFETY MAMA

@safeintheseat

Car seat safety cannot be emphasized enough! If you have any questions about setting up your little one for safe car travel, Safe in the Seat is going to be your new favorite account. These reminders are so important. If you learn something new, pass it along to your mom friends!

NUMBER SEVEN

solid starts

babyled weaning

@solidstarts

Before I became a mom, I never realized there are so many approaches to introducing solid foods. We decided on a relaxed approach that felt right for our family, offering a combination of “Baby Led Weaning” style foods AND purees. Solid Starts has been such an awesome help for creative ways to introduce a wide variety of nutritious foods! They have a First Foods database that explains the safest way to cut and prepare foods to minimize choking hazard according to age. Their account is loaded with helpful tips for the journey to solid foods!

NUMBER EIGHT

milestones & motherhood

DOCTOR OF PHYSICAL THERAPY

@milestones.and.motherhood

I love this one for the simple activities you can do with Baby to help encourage meeting physical milestones! She covers topics like tummy time activities, ways to encourage crawling, AND things to avoid to ensure proper motor and physical development.

NUMBER NINE

baby play hacks

Easy play ideas for little ones

@BABYPLAYHACKS

This account is amazing for the simple fact that nine times out of ten, Emerson would rather play with a water bottle than the $20 wooden baby toy we bought her. Baby toys add up- but this account is full of inexpensive, creative ideas that are sensory rich and encourage development in a positive way!

NUMBER TEN

big little feelings

TAME THOSE TANTRUMS

@BIGLITTLEFEELINGS

Lastly, I stalk this count in preparation for the toddler days ahead of me. I love their approach to the big feelings toddlers are working through and I genuinely feel like their tips and tricks are setting me up for success as Emerson begins to communicate with us more!

Fueled by equal parts chai tea latte and passion, I spend my days capturing the kinds of images that make you stop, smile and ask time to please slow down. Your family story is beautiful and I can’t wait to capture it in images you will treasure for years to come!

I believe in real moments and simplicity– reminding you of the joy of the early days of bringing your new baby home.

My goal is document your pregnancy so you can remember the sweet season of baby kicks and tummy hiccups… the anticipation of waiting to meet your Little One.

When your baby *finally* arrives, I want to capture every tiny detail so you never forget the forehead wrinkles or the fuzzy hair… all the sweet details you’ll miss when you realize your baby suddenly isn’t a baby anymore.
