Sedona AZ Red Rock Crossing Wedding | Melissa & Shane

You guys. I have been dying to share this gorgeous day. Melissa & Shane’s wedding took place in Sedona, at the beautiful Red Rock Crossing.. followed by an intimate reception at Heartline Cafe. We were lucky enough to have the most beautiful Arizona day for their Canyon Lake engagement session last spring, but somehow the beauty of their wedding day surpassed even that! Melissa & Shane are extremely sweet. Watching them together, you can’t help but smile.. especially when you see how easy it is for Shane to bring a smile across Melissa’s face. When asked how Melissa knew Shane was the one she wanted to marry, she said “I knew Shane was the one for so many reasons. His strengths perfectly compliment my weaknesses, he has the incredible ability to make me feel calm and like I can accomplish anything. I know that he will lead our family just how God wants a man to. I am so confident in our forever love.” Their wedding day perfectly captured these sentiments..

We started the day getting ready at Briar Patch Inn, this quaint little inn tucked into a canyon just outside of Sedona. Melissa and her bridesmaids laughed and got ready together in the most adorable matching PJ’s (seriously-to die for). After everyone’s hair and makeup was finished, we headed outside into beautiful light where the bride would finish preparing for her big day. Meanwhile, Shane calmly prepared for the day with his groomsmen, and before we knew it, it was time to head to Red Rock Crossing. The ceremony was short and sweet and focused on the love these two share for each other and for God, which is always a joy to document. Set in front of a flowing river with red rock mountains nearby, it was truly a beautiful ceremony. My favorite part was after the couple shared their first kiss.. all of their guests showered them with floral confetti while they celebrated their new marriage!

After family photos and bridal party photos, it was time to make the trip for bride & groom photos. From the minute Melissa told me they’d be getting married in Sedona, she expressed she wanted to do bride and groom photos at Merry Go Round Rock. Having seen photos of the spot, I couldn’t say no. I didn’t realize it was such a treacherous journey to the view though. 😉 Haha! We literally had to four wheel drive through the Sedona wilderness to reach it, and it was honestly SOOOO worth the bumpy ride. This was my favorite part of the whole day. We rushed to get there, fighting against the sunset, but we made it just in time. Just in time for the perfect light on these two, so perfectly in love. In the rush of a wedding day, there’s nothing better than slowing down for bride and groom photos, and letting the romance of it all kind of sweep you up for a moment. When the sun finally set, we made our way to Heartline Cafe, where Melissa & Shane’s close friends and family waited to celebrate with them. The rest of the night was so sweet and intimate.. it was everything Melissa described when I asked her what she envisioned for her wedding day the first time I met her. 🙂

Melissa & Shane: Thank you guys for being such special clients — really, more like friends, during the whole process of meeting you and photographing your wedding day. You both constantly showed John & I gratitude and trust with your big day. We so appreciate that. I wish you guys many years of happiness and love together. <3
